My Pitbull Lucifer releases debut album and new music video

The camp of the neo-doom noise band My Pitbull Lucifer has been buzzing for several years, and they’re keeping the momentum going. They’ve just released their first studio album, titled Welcome to New Earth, put out by the independent Croatian label No Profit Recordings. They marked the album’s launch with a new music video for their third single, “Shadows” directed by Lucija Opačak.

Genre Crossover
The album features five tracks with a unique atmosphere blending influences from doom metal, noise, stoner, all the way to heavy metal and progressive rock touches. The Croatian quartet sounds a bit unusual but appealing, mature, and solid. The powerful and distinctive guitar riffs by Dina Ivas carry a specific signature, veering almost toward post-metal, while vocalist Vedran Župarić Hamo steers toward a more traditional yet still fresh sound between heavy and doom. The rhythm section, consisting of drummer Ivan Hlušička Luže and Loris Peruško creates a compact, fairly playful whole. This gives the album cohesion, and more importantly, intrigue and undeniable relevance.

Veterans of the Alternative Scene
This genre richness within a single album isn’t surprising given who’s behind it. This guys (and a gal) have infused countless bands with their creative output. Vedran was once a member of Super Booster and Headbanger, teamed up with Dina in Mighty Zazuum, and Dina also played bass in The Freak Folk of Mangrovia. Luže drummed for the late lamented Bolesno Grinje, Hijos Del Pueblo, and Homo Homini Lupus, while Loris hails from Dark Omen, Chronic Disease, PxDxTx, and Spellscroll.

Third European Tour
From the band My Pitbull Lucifer, whose name they say has nothing to do with satanism but is a playful nod from musician Harley Flanagan in a documentary about the New York hardcore scene, they’re announcing a packed spring of concerts. After Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Serbia, and BiH, they’ll head to Romania, Austria, and Germany.

The Welcome to New Earth album is available physically as a vinyl edition and digipak CD via the No Profit Recordings Bandcamp, and you can stream it on platforms. The latest video for the “Shadows” single, along with the two previous ones, is on the NPR YouTube channel.
